Old Videos of Ayn Rand

This month, Tom Blackburn will bring some videos of old interviews and shows featuring Ayn Rand. We'll pick which ones we want to watch that night. Some of the videos are Rand on the Phil Donahue show, an interview with Mike Wallace, and the documentary Ayn Rand: A Sense of Life.

The meeting, on Saturday, October 16 at 7:00 p.m., will be at Lorie Bugby's house in West St. Louis County.
**Location change** -- the meeting will now be at Wendi & Carl's house in Glen Carbon. Contact mail@gatewayobjectivists.net for directions or more information.

The Rational Optimist: How Prosperity Evolves on BookTV

In case you missed it on C-SPAN2, Matt Ridley's The Rational Optimist: How Prosperity Evolves is now available on booktv.org. In the talk, based on his latest book by the same name, Ridley discusses how humans progress, arguing "that we progress when we trade and we only really trade productively when we trust each other." He shows that the world is getting better, contrary to what you hear from environmentalists, politicians, and the mainstream media.

"My philosophy, in essence, is the concept of man as a heroic being, with his own happiness as the moral purpose of his life, with productive achievement as his noblest activity, and reason as his only absolute."

-- Ayn Rand
