The Manchurian Candidate

***Please note location change***

This month, we will watch either The Manchurian Candidate (1962) or The Manchurian Candidate (2004) at Bob's house in his home theater. We'll vote that night on which one we'll watch.

The 1962 version stars Frank Sinatra, and the 2004 version stars Denzel Washington. While they are set during different wars, each movie's plot is the same: After an Army squad returns home, Sgt. Raymond Shaw is hailed as a hero and given high honors for saving the lives of his fellow soldiers and his commander. But soon, the commander, Maj. Ben Marco, and others begin to wonder whether Shaw deserved the award, and to question what really happened. Is the government withholding secrets about the circumstances of the squad? Once Marco starts to investigate the past, he uncovers a stunning conspiracy for the future.

The meeting, on Saturday, May 15, at 7 p.m., will be at Bob Bugby's house in Ballwin.  Email mail@gatewayobjectivists.net for directions or more information.

"My philosophy, in essence, is the concept of man as a heroic being, with his own happiness as the moral purpose of his life, with productive achievement as his noblest activity, and reason as his only absolute."
