The Invention of Lying

This month, we'll watch The Invention of Lying on DVD. The movie, starring Ricky Gervais, is about a world in which everyone always tells the truth. That is, until one man makes up a story about heaven to comfort his dying mother. He develops his own theology and becomes an international authority on religion and the afterlife. Soon he learns to lie to help his friends, to cheat at a casino, and attempts to use it to win the affection of the woman of his dreams.

The meeting, on Saturday, February 20 at 7:00 p.m., will be at Lorie Bugby's house in West St. Louis County. Contact mail@gatewayobjectivists.net for directions or more information.

"My philosophy, in essence, is the concept of man as a heroic being, with his own happiness as the moral purpose of his life, with productive achievement as his noblest activity, and reason as his only absolute."
